Shaheen and Amit are one of those couples that you meet and you just know how perfect they are for each other. Both of them have the most kind of smiles, they are both relaxed, easy going and hate to pose for photos, just my kind of people! And of course, they chose the amazing Moon Palace Resort, in the Mayan Riviera to seal their union. This beautiful destination wedding in the Mexican Caribbean was full of hindu traditions, mixing traditional hindu outfits, as well as western outfits. There were even some very korean dance moves at the end (yes, Gangam Style). Enjoy this colorful, magical wedding.

Dreams RC is one of my all time favorite resorts to shoot at even tho we had a bit of rain and cloudy skies. Having a bunch of very fun people from half way around the world is always a unique experience. Victoria and Yuriy love portraits, just as I do, so we run around the resort and capture lots of those. In this wedding I learned about a beautiful Russian-Ukrainian tradition: at the end of the reception, the mother of the bride removes the bride’s veil, and replace it with a traditional kerchief, marking the passage from being single into a married woman. Of course, it’s a very soulful moment. Amazing!

Mellisa and Patrick Vow Renewal – Playa del Carmen Destination Wedding Photographer Samuel Luna

Mellisa and Patrick came to Mayan Riviera to do their Vow Renewal ceremony, after 10 years of marriage, and asked me to photograph such a special moment. Mellisa is the Mastermind behind Ogilvy Images. I’m always a bit tense when I get to capture a fellow photographer in photos, because we photogs tend to be a bit of control freaks. We want all things photo-related to be perfect, all the time. Turned out I was worrying over nothing. They came in, forgot the world around them, they let their love transpire, and just had a happy time together. Just my kind of clients! We went to a small beach outside Playa del Carmen, did some photos before the actual ceremony, then they said their vows in the most gorgeous sunny weather, more portraits came after that, and even did a little bit of a Trash The Dress. Patrick, Mellisa, you guys rock!

Candace and Michael are one of the sweetest couples on earth, totally relaxed, always laughing and having fun. Dreams Tulum, beautiful as always, provided the deep blue waters and soft sunset light for this amazing caribbean destination wedding. They brought a bottle of delicious Maple syrup for me all the way from Canada, thanks guys! I prepared some very nice waffles with it Loved the elegant-yet-relaxed navy/gray style on the Bridal Party outfits.

I’ve been meaning to write a post about Jess and Justin wedding for quite sometime now, because this was a very special wedding. For one, I had a car accident the days before her wedding, and that kept me from getting to her Rehearsal Dinner but thankfully it all worked out in the end. Jess is a MAJOR star in the wedding bloggosphere, just check her awesome website Destination Inspirations. Justin is so relaxed and easy going, and Jess is vibrant and always on the move. Yes, perfect couple! Their amazing wedding ceremony was held on The royal and their reception took place on the beautiful Kool Beach Club, coordinated by no other than Yazmín de la Mora. And by the way, Mr. McCan, the Father of the Bride, has some serious dancing moves. Epic wedding!

Jenevieve and Justin are about the most relaxed and laid back couple I have ever had the honor to work for. Their wedding was awesome in many ways: the beautiful setting of Dreams Tulum, the amazing vintage dress (which inspired me to do a vintage postprocessing on these photos), the minimalistic setup, and the so-very light rain in the afternoon. Oh, and in this wedding I was confused with Javier Bardem. PERFECT wedding! For this wedding I worked with my good friend and colleague César Flores. Enjoy!

Zihuatanejo is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mexican Pacific. Playa Troncones is just some miles north of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. Lauren and Andrew put together an amazing wedding celebration, with mexican details all around, from little Dia de Muertos figures, to churros on every table, to a great Mariachi band. All that, combined with the ever peaceful landscape of Playa Troncones resulted in pure magic. And, by the way, Lauren is a consummate Yogi, have you ever seen a Bride doing the Dancer Posture? Awesome!

Liz and Arturo got married in one of my favorite venues in PDC: The Royal. I love shooting weddings for people of Mexican heritage, because they connect in a very heartfelt way to all of our traditions: the tequila , the mariachi band, the tossing of the groom… Plus, speaking spanish with so many different accents is so much fun. For this amazing wedding I had the pleasure of working along my good friend and talented colleague Elizabeth Kowal from White Album Weddings, I included a couple of her amazing and dreamy shots from portrait time. The huge Barcelo Riviera Maya was the selected background for Jessica and Craig wonderful wedding. They came all the way from Alberta, on the Great White North. For this wedding I had the pleasure of working along my good friend Julieta Belmont. AND we had a Trash The Dress session a couple of days later on the beautiful waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Jessica wrote one of the most amazing reviews of my work, and they have promised to come back to Playa del Carmen in the future for family pictures, I cannot be more happy. Craig is a hockey player, in case you were wondering where all those muscles come from Ok, onto the pictures!

Fabiola y Roberto en Ex-Hacienda San Andrés, Naucalpan

Para esta boda, tuve el honor de contar con mis amigos y colegas Alain Malvaez y Omar LH. Esta boda ocupa un lugar especial en mi corazón. Hace unos años, cuando apenas comenzaba en la fotografía, tuve el gran honor de que la hermana de Fabiola, Karina, y su esposo Arturo, confiaran en mi para documentar su boda en Juriquilla, Querétaro. Sus fotos les gustaron tanto que Faby no dudó en contactarme para su propia boda, pero yo ya no tenía disponible la fecha… y ella eligió mover su celebración para una semana después. Les aseguro que no hay premio ni reconocimiento que supere la satisfacción que me da como fotógrafo el ser recipiente de un gesto como ese. Faby y Rob: estas fotos siempre se quedarán cortas comparadas con la alegría y espectacularidad de su boda, y con la dicha que me causó trabajar para ustedes, y volver a ver tantas caras familiares. Juliane and Curtis day after session – Bridal Party TTD at Dreams Huatulco

This is the third post about Juliane and Curtis’ awesome wedding (you can see more magic here and here). It all started with something like “- Would we need the bridal party for the day after session?”, “- No… unless they’re willing to go into the water, it would be awesome…” And it ended up with what you see here. Huatulco is a famous spot for surfing, so the tide was very strong, and of course there were some safety concerns, and there were some in the bridal party whom were having seconds thoughts about going into the rocks and water. There were some posed shots, but at some point I became just more of a witness. Sometimes you have to get out of the way, and just document people having FUN! Thank you guys for your bravery and amazing disposition!
